On Taking Chances
From the onset of my professional career, I was always looking for the corporate, stable job. I worked at a 1,000+ employee business to begin my career and then a company that had been in business for 50+ years. Both seemed to have good track records, obviously. I learned a lot at both of these companies, but knew I wanted to do more.
I started looking around. I found other companies, received offers, but then learned about a small, start-up company that had an amazing focus of allowing their employees to do what they do best while doing great work in return for their clients. There was no long track record of success, there were no guarantees, there was no fluffy salary, but there was passion and dedication that I hadn’t seen before in any other business. I left a recent promotion, turned down higher salaries, took a chance, and have never looked back.
At a small business you wear multiple hats and do many things you never expected to do. There were rocky times, there were good times, and there were great times. We’ve experienced record growth. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been well worth the ride. When you take a chance on something you believe in, the outcomes can be so sweet.
